What is the purpose of teaching?
The purpose of teaching is to give others the information and knowledge they are seeking. Teaching is an opportunity to spread your views towards others in hopes that they pick up on what you're putting down. Teaching allows for an interaction between others, a way to build relationships and understandings together.
What is your image of the learner?
My image of a learner is someone who is present and ready to listen. Learners come in all shapes, sizes, and attention spans. There is no right or wrong learner, you as a teacher have to be able to teach anyone and understand what they need in order to learn.
What should be the nature and substance of student work?
The nature and substance of a student's work should be completing the tasks they were asked to. By doing what is asked, it gives teachers an insight to what needs to be readdressed or what they can do in order to make it easier on the students. Students are responsible for completing their work, and if not there needs to be a solution or compromise found.
What is your image of the teacher?
The image I have created for a teacher is someone who is both supportive in learning and what is going on outside the classroom. Teachers are not just there to give tests or homework, they are there for all their students needs. They have to provide both an education and a relationship with their students, and faculty.
What is your image of the curriculum?
After what we have learned about curriculum it is easy to say it is both critical but able to be adjusted. We as teachers have the power to adjust our curriculum to fit our students needs and wants with also being able to meet the standards for the year. The curriculum we choose to teach with not only help our students but impact them because we can make it fun, informative, and fitting to todays society.
What is the preferred pedagogy?
I still think that inquiry-oriented is the most effective teaching because learning comes with questions. If students are unable to ask questions or question what we are teaching them, then there is no point to do so if they already know the answers. I still agree with using open pedagogy as well because it allows for there to be a range of learning options, for both the student and teacher.
What is the preferred school climate?
My preferred school climate is still relationship based. I feel as though having a relationship with your students allows for a smoother transition into learning and understanding. Going back to my original post, I mentioned that communications key and I still believe that to be true, it not only gives connections, but it gives a sense of understanding.
What is the social significance of the students learning?
After going over my old platform I still 100% stand by what I said. Social significance of a students learning is important because it gives both book and streets smart. It is important that there is both because knowledge on certain subjects only gets you so far, we have to be ready for what's outside a classroom setting.
