MIDDLE

Updated: Oct 11, 2021

One thing I want to learn more about it the development of the Middle School

community. From the videos and readings we learned of the history and those who founded this realm of education, but what I want to know is who continued to express there thoughts and knowledge amongst those.

Identity- When kids enter middle school they are trying to find who they are, identity represents who they are and who they want to become, so I chose to include it due to the fact that it is a major part of growing up.

Development- I chose development because as these kids go through these years of schooling they are going to learn and grow within themselves. These years allow them develop for high school and life after education.

Disrupt the status quo- Middle school is a community of trying to fit in, social media has shown that all kids want to follow the same trends, etc. So by disrupting the status quo it will show them that they can be who they want and not what others expect.

Learn and listen- Students and teachers both have to learn and listen from each other. This will allow them to create both and educational and personal relationship with each other.

Education- Teachers have to provide their students with a valid education, that comes with a good curriculum and experience. Students also have to be prepared to learn and listen as mentioned before. Education is the main reason for an Middle School.

Hi, Ashley! I really liked how you focused on student identity because I think that is a huge part of middle school. I found your "Disrupt the status quo" section interesting since it touches on how we, as teachers, can be positive role models for our students. By being genuine and true to ourselves we can show our students the importance of being themselves. I think that this is really important during a time that is so crucial in their development.
